Texas Bluebonnet Award

The Texas Bluebonnet Award is a unique program that encourages reading for pleasure and is aimed at students in grades 3-6.

Each year, 20 books are chosen as the “Texas Bluebonnet Award Master List” by the TBA selection committee.

If students read a minimum of five books from the current master list (or have the books read aloud to them), they have the opportunity to vote for their favorite title during the month of January each year. The author of the book receiving the most votes statewide is declared the winner of the Texas Bluebonnet Award.

This year Dr. C.M. Cash students participated in the selection of the TBA winner by reading and voting for their favorite book.

  1. Wonderful job. Your bash looks so much fun. Congratulations to all your hard working students. The Early Childhood Development Center will be holding our Bluebonnet Book Club Reading Celebration Breakfast next Thursday. I am building a Giants beware life size game board-a sort of maze, a Jangles’ Fishing Hole, and trying to build a Plinko game board like on Price’s is Right for one our other games. Our will last 45 minutes. I separated voting from celebration this year.
I would love to compare notes some time. I will tweeting out some pictures next week under Twitter name @JuleeMurphy.

What’s really cool (and shh! don’t tell my students yet-secret) is that we picked Giants Beware as our favorite.

    Bluebonnets Rule!
