About Me
Mrs. Auristela Garcia recognizes that all scholars can learn naturally if they have the proper motivation and direction from their teachers to set a strong learning foundation. Auristela is a generational educator who was inspired at an early age to follow in her parent's footsteps.
She embraces the constructivist approach to teaching and learning. As the concepts of active learning and collaboration are essential to her teaching philosophy. She seeks to model these behaviors daily in her interactions with students and other teachers. As a science teacher, she enjoys teaching in the setting of real-world exploration, emphasizing decision-making, and self-reflection through collaboration during scientific investigations. Year after year, she has successfully provided differentiated instruction, closed the gaps, and improved the overall academic level in the content area of science which has allowed her to obtain high STAAR scores consistently. She believes that student-centered teaching promotes learning that is both purposeful and enduring.
Spectacular teaching and dedication do not go unrecognized! In 2018, she was recognized as Teacher of the Year. Her greatness is not only contained in a classroom as she also participates in the education community. In 2019, she presented Effective and engaging science lessons and resources at The Texas Elementary Principals and Supervisors Association Conference. In the same year, Mrs. Garcia presented at the UTRGV STEM Education Consortium for teachers interested in applying hands-on activities in science classes at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. In addition, Mrs. Garcia continues to serve as a professional development mentor for our district and other school districts in Texas.
Mrs. Garcia's commitment to excellence and determination to succeed make her an asset to SBCISD as she continues to make her mark on the entire SBCISD TEAM.
